We’ve won the war! On Ebola, that is. This week, Obama will announce the war against the disease is won, and he’s bringing the U.S. troops home from West Africa, where they were helping to build Ebola response centers. In an interview with The New York Times, Ebola Czar Ron Klain said, “We are at a bit of a pivot point in this, where we have bent the curve of the epidemic, stopped the exponential growth and have the number of cases down. That is a tremendous achievement to be proud of.” But Klain added, “[T]his epidemic is far from over. … There’s a lot of work left to be done. We have to get all the way to zero, and we’re not going to stop until that’s achieved.” But Klain may not be there for that work. NYT reports the man will leave his post at the end of the week – more than a fortnight before the date Klain promised he would leave the post back in December. In fact, Klain’s whole tenure as Ebola Czar has been marked by a job poorly done, as he missed several meetings about America’s Ebola response.
