A machete, a hunting knife, a video and a homemade ISIL flag – that was all that was all Omar Al-Kutobi and Mohammed Kiad needed for their planned terrorist attack in Australia. However, hours before they were about to go “stabbing the kidneys and striking the necks” of residents in Sydney, the police arrested the duo after they received a tip. In the video, Australian officials say the two were shown chanting Arabic and talking about how they were striking the West for ISIL. Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott told his parliament, “As we have seen again and again in recent times, the death cult is reaching out all around the world, including here in Australia. There are people in this country who are susceptible to these incitements to extremism and even terrorism.” While the head of Australia’s Liberal Party suffers the same case of political speak as Obama – they both have the inability to say the impetus of terrorism is Islamic militants – Abbott fully realizes what the threat means to his country.
