Perhaps small, liberal states of the Northeast don’t understand what an impact the Environmental Protection Agency’s regulations will do to their economies. According to Heritage Foundation numbers, EPA regulation will hit these states’ manufacturing economies hard. Vermont is estimated to lose 3.41%, or 1,378 manufacturing jobs; Connecticut, 3.94% or 7,571 jobs; and New Hampshire 6.39% or 3,452 jobs. Jazz Shaw writes at Hot Air, “Vermont’s latest jobs report indicates that, after suffering several years of losses, the state is down to only 337,300 [manufacturing] workers. The new regulations will put the pinch on employers by driving up costs across multiple sectors, leading to smaller employers having to let some folks go. It’s not that massive of a number by itself in national terms, but when you have that few jobs to begin with any significant bite is more painful.” So what will the liberal governments do? Fight back against overreaching government regulation for their state’s economy? Hardly. Just look to Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy, who happily showed gun companies the door after his state passed crushing gun control laws.
