The Patriot Post® · Boko Haram Is Emulating ISIL
The Islamic State attracts most of our attention, but it wasn’t long ago that Boko Haram, the lesser known Islamic terrorist group located in Nigeria, was the one making headlines. Last spring, Boko Haram kidnapped hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls – its first atrocity recognized on a global scale – and subsequently overthrew large cities. The most horrific brutality occurred in the town of Baga, where Islamists slaughtered an estimated 2,000 innocent lives. Now, the group appears to be more closely emulating its counterpart in Syria and Iraq. According to Fox News, “Boko Haram has taken a page out of the ISIS playbook, releasing a new video Monday of two prisoner beheadings so similar to clips posted by the Middle East jihadist group that experts now believe the terror groups are working together.” Veryan Khan, who works with Terrorism Research & Analysis Consortium, says, “This latest release shows Boko Haram is not a mere copycat of ISIS; rather, it is incorporating itself into the Islamic State.” Actually, jihadis share the same ideologically, meaning they embark on the same mission. So terrorists fall under one entity regardless of what they call themselves. They do, however, fight over publicity, which explains the tactical maneuver. And the longer these brutes get to showcase their atrocities, the more of the propaganda war they will win.
