The Patriot Post® · Brown's Family Announces Civil Suit Against Wilson

The parents of Michael Brown announced that they were going to file a wrongful death suit against Darren Wilson, the Ferguson Police officer who killed their son. While the Department of Justice declined to bring civil rights charges against Wilson, and a grand jury found not enough proof to bring a criminal prosecution, Brown’s parents said civil suits require lower thresholds of proof. The Hill reports, “Along with its decision not to charge Wilson, the Justice Department announced on Wednesday that investigators had found evidence of civil rights violations committed by the Ferguson Police Department. The family’s lawyers hinted that they will take advantage of the findings as they lay out their case.” While the courts and justice system has already decided that Wilson shot Brown in self defense, the lawyer of Brown’s family is only emboldened because of the DOJ’s zealous scrutiny into the Ferguson Police Department.
