Al Sharpton has a fire problem. Either he’s an unlucky man, with key records incinerated twice, once in 1997 and another in 2003, or he’s “conveniently” used fire to destroy financial records that he was supposed to disclose. “As Al Sharpton ran for mayor of New York City in 1997 and for president in 2003, fires at his offices reportedly destroyed critical financial records, and he subsequently failed to comply with tax and campaign filing requirements,” reports Jillian Kay Melchior for National Review. In the first fire, the New York Fire Department said the fire started as a result of arson, although the impending investigation never uncovered a suspect. At the 2003 fire, “The battalion chief who responded to the fire initially coded it as suspicious,” Melchior writes. But then there were gaps in the investigation. The battalion chief was taken off the case. While no wrongdoing is proved against Sharpton, the man has a history of just not getting around to paying his taxes. More…
