New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, who was Hillary Clinton’s first campaign manager, thinks she’s a great candidate, but stopped short of an endorsement just yet. But he also doesn’t think we need to bother checking up on her qualifications or character. “No, [I won’t endorse her yet] until I see — and again, I would say this about any candidate — until I see an actual vision of where they want to go,” de Blasio said. “I think she’s a tremendous public servant. I think she is one of the most qualified people to ever run for this office. … She doesn’t need to be vetted. I think we can safely say that. But I think she has to address the issues and that can be done with or without a primary.” Just in the last few months, we’ve learned of Hillary’s influence peddling through the Clinton Foundation and exclusively using private email as secretary of state — deleting everything later almost surely to cover up the former. Clinton will do and has always done whatever it takes to avoid being vetted, making de Blasio’s remarks ring hollow.
