The Patriot Post® · After That Nice Talk, Will Obama Handle Belligerent Iran?
It’s like the U.S. and Iran never talked. Nine Iranian cargo ships are supposedly sailing to supply Houthi rebels in Yemen, and the USS Theodore Roosevelt — the embodiment of speak softly and carry a big stick — has moved into the Gulf of Aden. While Pentagon spokesman Army Col. Steve Warren said the flotilla of Iranian ships is not the sole reason the U.S. decided to pull a ship monitoring the situations in Iraq and Syria back to Yemen, it gives the U.S. “options” in the newest Middle East crisis. Furthermore, Iran’s belligerence has all but erased the nuclear deal with the United States.
Gen. Hossein Salami, deputy leader of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, said international inspectors will be banned from inspecting Iranian military sites. “We will respond with hot lead to those who speak of it,” Salami said Sunday. “Iran will not become a paradise for spies. We will not roll out the red carpet for the enemy.” Iran is not acting like a country that just reached an agreement to ensure peace in our time. Instead, it’s acting like it just won a political match over the West.
