The Patriot Post® · Gay Businessman Who Met With Cruz Apologizes After Criticism

If you believe the courts should override the legislative process to impose same-sex marriage and bakers should bake cakes contrary to their consciences, thou shalt not meet with the enemy. Thou shalt not break bread with him. Thou shalt not discuss politics. There are no words to be exchanged. But this is precisely what homosexual businessman Ian Reisner, did with Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz. The two sat down last week in New York City to talk politics, specifically, their mutual views on the nation of Israel, but the conversation strayed into the issue of same-sex marriage — a topic where the two share opposite beliefs.

In response, homosexual activists announced boycotts on Reisner and his business partner’s establishments that cater to New York’s LGBT community. Reisner quickly issued an apology after the blowback: “I am shaken to my bones by the emails, texts, postings and phone calls of the past few days. I made a terrible mistake.” Reisner continued, “I was ignorant, naïve and much too quick in accepting a request to co-host a dinner with Cruz at my home without taking the time to completely understand all of his positions on gay rights.”

For Cruz — who explained to Reisner that he believes the states should decide the same-sex marriage debate — the meeting was a matter of engaging with people who might disagree with his views. “I know it’s been a long time since we’ve seen it, but this is what it means to truly be a ‘big tent Republican’ instead of a panderer,” Cruz said. “I’m happy to go anywhere to anyone to champion conservative values.” More…
