Former Attorney General Eric Holder tweeted this week that the “[m]assacre in Charleston was, based on applicable law and released materials, [a] hate crime and act of terrorism.” He’s right. The suspect stepped into Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church with the intention of taking as many black lives as he could. The heinous act should clearly be treated as an act of domestic terrorism. But where was Holder when the victims of another domestic terrorist attack were victimized some six years ago? In 2009, Islamist Nidal Hasan, ironically a former psychiatrist in the United States Army, opened fire on his unarmed colleagues at Fort Hood, leaving 14 dead, including an unborn baby, and more than 30 wounded. Despite that, however, the Obama administration up until this year incessantly labeled the jihad-inspired attack “workplace violence,” which prevented the surviving victims from being awarded Purple Hearts. Both attacks are similar in that they were carried out because of hate. But the government treated them very differently, because one man propagated the Left’s talking point of America’s supposed racial divide while the other hurt the leftist narrative that Islam is the Religion of Peace™.
