The Patriot Post® · All of a Sudden, Obama Enforces Immigration Law
Federal immigration officials will be going door to door to tell about 2,000 illegal immigrants that their work permits will expire at the end of the month. The administration seems to be walking back a bit on Obama’s unconstitutional executive action last year granting mass amnesty. After a conglomerate of states took the federal government to court, Federal Judge Andrew Hanen issued an injunction stopping the implementation of the executive decrees. The Obama administration merely shrugged and carried on. Then Hanen called the feds back to hear explanations as to why he should not hold them in contempt of court. Hence Obama’s immigration officials have made such a sudden change in their tone regarding immigration enforcement. No longer can they extend work permits. Of the two-year work permits that they recently extended to three years, the Obama administration is scrambling to revise the permits again. This back-and-forth is probably making a lot of immigration advocates, who once lauded Obama’s actions, reconsider their critiques of the deliberative legislative process. Meanwhile, about 1,000 illegal immigrants have come into this country under Obama’s watch. Granted, that’s fewer than came during the George W. Bush administration, but that speaks more to Obama’s lousy economy than successful immigration law enforcement.
