The Patriot Post® · Hillary Has Suspicious Ties to Swiss Bank
In 2009, the largest bank in Switzerland, UBS, was in a bind. The U.S. Department of Justice was suing UBS for information on 52,000 accounts, looking for Americans who dodged the taxman by stashing their money in the Swiss bank. But if UBS handed over the names, it would violate secrecy laws in its home country. In stepped then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The suit was settled. UBS handed over information on 4,450 accounts. Interestingly enough, UBS soon started increasing its donations to the Clinton Foundation — from less than $60,000 in total through 2008 to about $600,000 from 2009 to 2014. Bill Clinton was paid $1.5 million to speak with the company. Was it bribery? The trial attorney who helped bring the DOJ lawsuit against UBS, Stu Gibson, told The Wall Street Journal, “It raises questions that need to be addressed, or should be addressed. Maybe there’s nothing to it. Maybe there is something to it.” The incident alone doesn’t show that Clinton worked in the black, ethically speaking, just a very, very dark gray.
