Planned Parenthood has run to the federal court system to protect the flow of money going to the “woman’s health” organization. In response to Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal canceling the contract between the organization and the state Aug. 3, Planned Parenthood sued the state, asking a federal court to block the governor’s action because the money was for Medicaid services. Jindal had canceled the contract because of the videos released by the Centers for Medical Progress. After they showed the details of PP’s baby-parts trafficking trade, Jindal said the organization didn’t represent the values held by the State of Louisiana or its citizens. And for that, PP is calling foul because the two PP centers in the state do not perform abortions. It is also mulling legal action in the other states that have also cut off their funding. However, Jindal’s spokesman Mike Reed said the abortion provider doesn’t have a case. “The Medicaid provider contract between the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals and Planned Parenthood gives either party the right to cancel the contract at will with a 30-day notice,” Reed told the WSJ. “Governor Jindal and DHH chose to exercise that right to cancel.” As for Planned Parenthood’s claim that they are a vital provider of women’s health, there are plenty of other clinics that can serve a PP-free nation.
