The Patriot Post® · King Defends Schilling After Patriot Post Tweet
Former Major League pitcher Curt Schilling tweeted a Patriot Post graphic earlier this week and it landed him an ESPN suspension from covering the Little League World Series. “The math is staggering when you get to the true #s,” Schilling wrote above the Patriot meme, which notes: “It’s said only 5-10% of Muslims are extremists. In 1940, only 7% of Germans were Nazis. How’d that go?” ESPN called the tweet “completely unacceptable,” and said it “in no way represents our company’s perspective.” Perhaps that’s because people — like even Fox News — are misinterpreting the politically incorrect image as comparing Muslims to Nazis instead of radical Muslims to Nazis. Big difference. In fact, it’s the entire point of the image.
Rep. Peter King (R-NY), Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, blasted the network, saying, “It was disgraceful and cowardly for ESPN to suspend Curt Schilling for telling the truth by comparing Islamists to Nazis. ESPN has displayed the ultimate in political correctness.” He added, “By suspending Curt from covering the Little League World Series, ESPN is telling the youth of America that it does not tolerate free speech. Maybe ESPN would have preferred that Curt Schilling attack cops instead of Islamists. That certainly would have been more politically correct!”
