The Patriot Post® · Clinton Weighs in on VA Scandal
The nation’s expert in scandal has ruled that the secret waitlists and bureaucratic morass at the Department of Veterans Affairs does not rise to the level of national scandal. Hillary Clinton told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Friday that the poor level of care at the VA is “not been as widespread as it has been made out to be.” Instead, the smoke is caused by the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy™ to gain political mileage. “They try to create a downward spiral,” Clinton said, “don’t fund it to the extent that it needs to be funded, because they want it to fail, so then we can argue for privatization.” Surely the woman who said during the Democrat debate she is most proud of making enemies with Republicans remembers that truth is the first casualty of war. It is reasonable for the government to care for its soldiers it sends off to war. The issue at the VA is not privatization. Instead, we’re trying to reform government-run health care for a group of Americans that deserve the best care, public or private. A Sisyphean task? Perhaps, but given Clinton’s record of standing by America’s soldiers in Libya, she hardly has the best interests of veterans in mind.
