Hillary Clinton evidently thinks gun control is going to be a winning issue (for her!) in 2016. Ask Democrats in 1994 or 2014 how that worked out. Or ask any of the millions of Americans who are now gun owners thanks to Barack Obama’s anti-gun push after some politically exploitable mass shootings. Clinton’s gun control plan would accomplish precisely nothing to stop “gun violence,” but never mind that — she’s got an agenda to push and won’t be dissuaded by the facts. “This epidemic of gun violence knows no boundaries. Between 88 and 92 people a day are killed by guns,” Clinton says in her new campaign ad. “We need to close the loopholes and support universal background checks. How many people have to die before we actually act?” She’s including suicide statistics in her death toll, which, as we’ve previously noted, should be considered separately. The only reason she and other Democrats use those numbers is that 33,000 deaths a year sounds far worse than 8,000. And a good number of the remaining murders are gang-related and occur on Democrat poverty plantations like Chicago. They don’t tell you that, either. But keep it up, Hillary.
