The Patriot Post® · Los Angeles Gives in to Terror Hoax
It was made for Hollywood yet Hollywood could not recognize its own creation. Los Angeles closed its schools Dec. 15, sending students home and sending bomb-sniffing dogs through the halls because of an email threatening “Something big is going down.” New York City schools received almost an exact copy of that email, which ABC News was able to see, but quickly dismissed as a hoax because it resembled the plot of Showtime TV show “Homeland.” The author of the email clamed to be a disenfranchised Muslim who “teamed up with a local jihadist cell.” The prankster said he or she was bullied while attending one of the local high schools (A jihadist and an angry victim of bullying? Dear Lord, it’s the Leftist’s perfect storm!) so they snuck bombs into several school lockers, oh, and topped off the plot by adding a touch of “nerve gas.” New York law enforcement said they smelled a hoax early on. For example, the author of the email didn’t capitalize “Allah” — jihadism 101. But in an overabundance of caution, Los Angeles, home of the entertainment industry, shuttered its schools, disrupting the day for 640,000 students. Part of this lies in the erosion of resiliency. If terrorists rule by fear, then this false alarm shows how susceptible Los Angeles is to being swayed by violence. But another part lies with the Obama administration, Investor’s Business Daily opined, because it refuses to face the threat of terrorism. “Because our government refuses even to recognize the problem, a mere email can now shut down a major American city’s schools. This is perhaps the most insidious part of this terrorist threat — the strangling of our liberty. What next? Sporting events? Concerts?”
