U.S. Not Picking Syrian Refugees Entering the Nation

The Obama administration has outsourced the job.

According to the Center for Immigration Studies, the United States hasn’t actually vetted the Syrian immigrants coming into the nation. Instead, it has allowed the United Nations to submit the list of 22,427 refugees for resettlement consideration. On one hand, it makes sense, allowing the four million Syrians displaced by the civil war to apply through one entity, but it opens the whole process up for fraud, as each interviewer for the UN’s High Commissioner for Refugees is vetting between 2,100 to 2,800 refugees. Furthermore, the United States doesn’t know exactly whom the UN is recommending come live here. As CIS Senior Researcher Nayla Rush wrote, “In summary, Americans are asked today to welcome Syrian refugees without hesitation and have total faith in the refugee resettlement program. They are asked to give the benefit of the doubt to UNHCR staff in tormented countries, and to trust their own government officials with their national security — officials who are delegating parts of their screening responsibilities overseas to the UNHCR.” While leftist pundits throw up the defense that accepting refugees is the Christian thing to do, government officials play Church and ignore the duty to keep this country safe through vetting and verification. Hopefully, UNHCR did not recommended for resettlement consideration some of the “refugees” who’ve made the news in Paris or Germany.
