The Patriot Post® · In Flint, Clinton's Cash Trumps Sanders' Ideas
You almost have to feel sorry for Bernie Sanders. He tried to reach out and court the support of northern blacks during Sunday’s Democrat debate, but Hillary Clinton kept her minority supporters out of reach from her openly socialist opponent. But rhetorical twists are not the only thing in Clinton’s political arsenal. Sanders, who says he’s running an ideas-based campaign, doesn’t have a super PAC, no network of bigwig donors, and no nonprofit that can do his bidding.
The day Sanders and Clinton squared off, the Detroit Free Press announced that Chelsea Clinton was riding into Flint, Michigan, with $500,000 in order to pay the youth of Flint to distribute bottled water in the city tainted with lead-poisoned water. She was starting the Flint WaterWorks Initiative, and the daughter of politicos wanted everyone to know: This charity is not to score political points. The young Clinton said at a news conference, “For my mother and for me, this is not political. It is deeply personal and I think it should be personal to every American.”
Yeah, right.
While Sanders is left crazy-haired, gesticulating wildly about the evils of Wall Street, Clinton, in Machiavellian fashion, shows that she can take care of her own. What was brilliant about the move was Clinton didn’t spend a dime of her own money. The money was provided by J.B. Pritzker, a major donor to the Clinton Foundation and — drumroll — former national co-chair of Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign. Just so you know, Clinton has a 99% chance of winning the Michigan Democrat primary. Tell us again how this is free from every whiff of political posturing.
