The Patriot Post® · Weighing in on Brussels
Not surprisingly, the Islamic State claimed responsibility for killing dozens and wounding more than 150 in terror attacks at a Brussels airport and downtown metro stop Tuesday. It’s not news that Europe is suffering mightily from a veritable invasion of Muslims bent on destroying the West and expanding the reign of Islam, the “Religion of Peace™” through violent means. Here’s what Barack Obama and three contenders for the presidency had to say on the matter:
Barack Obama: “I want to comment on the terrorist attacks that have taken place in Brussels. The thoughts and prayers of the American people are with the people of Belgium, and we stand in solidarity with them in condemning these outrageous attacks against innocent people. We will do whatever is necessary to support our friend and ally Belgium, in bringing to justice those who are responsible. And this is yet another reminder that the world must unite. We must be together, regardless of nationality, or race, or faith in fighting against the scourge of terrorism. We can and we will defeat those who threaten the safety and security of people all round the world.”
Predictably, he didn’t mention radical Islam, but at least he called it a terrorist attack right from the beginning.
Hillary Clinton: “These terrorists seek to undermine the democratic values that are the foundation of our way of life. They will never succeed.”
That’s wishful thinking without the backbone to fight — a trait she and her former boss have shown is in short supply.
Donald Trump: “I would close up our borders to people until we figure out what’s going on. We have to be very, very vigilant with who we let into this country. We are taking in people without real documentation. We don’t know who they are or where they’re from. We don’t learn. I will tell you I’ve been talking about this for a long time. This whole thing will get worse as time goes by.”
Later, he said, “I didn’t say shut it down. I said you have to be very careful. We have to be very, very strong and vigilant at the borders. We have to be tough.”
He previously proposed a blanket travel ban on Muslims entering the country. He’s right about vigilance, though.
Ted Cruz: “Today’s attacks in Brussels underscore that this is a war. This is not an isolated incident. This is not a lone wolf. This is a war with radical Islamic terrorism. ISIS has declared jihad on Europe and on the United States of America. … It is long past time that we had a president who will acknowledge this evil, will call it by its name and utilize the full force and fury of the United States to defeat radical Islamic terrorism — to defeat ISIS. Until they are defeated, these attacks will continue. … We need a president who sets aside political correctness. In the wake of Brussels, we don’t need another lecture from Obama about Islamophobia.”
Cruz’s remarks are by far the strongest of the bunch, but unfortunately he’s also the furthest from being able to do anything about it.
