The Patriot Post® · Sanders Alienates Democrats in Recent Interview
Bernie Sanders was angling for a Leftmedia endorsement. Instead, he utterly failed to toe the liberal line and, on other subjects, to even know what he was talking about. Last week, the socialist submitted to questions from the New York Daily News editorial board, but the presidential candidate who fills venues with Millennials excited about his policies lambasting big banks could not explain how he would do it.
Reading the transcript, Brooklyn’s second son sounds like the son with the tower on Fifth Avenue. When the paper’s editors asked how exactly he would break up the banks, Sanders replied, “Well, by the way, the idea of breaking up these banks is not an original idea. It’s an idea that some conservatives have also agreed to. You’ve got the head of, I think it’s, the Kansas City Fed, some pretty conservative guys, who understands. Let’s talk about the merit of the issue, and then talk about how we get there.”
It’ll be yuge. Trust him. The Daily News editors brought Sanders back to the question and once again he didn’t answer. As Washington Post’s Christ Cillizza pointed out, Sanders offered nothing more in substance beyond his oft-repeated stump speech — a disappointment to his young supporters if he were to ever obtain office.
Furthermore, the man didn’t fall in line with the Democrat Party’s stance on guns. Sanders said he does not support the idea that the families of a person who was killed when someone used a gun unlawfully should have the ability to sue gun companies — a logical opinion, for any manufacturer cannot be responsible for the misuse of its product. But that’s not what the Left believes now, and the Daily News’ headline blared “Bernie’s Sandy Hook Shame: Callously defends gunmakers against Newtown kin lawsuit.”
“I almost feel sorry for Bernie,” opines Robert Farago, The Truth About Guns blogger. “Then I remember he wants another assault weapons ban, ammunition magazine limitations and universal background checks. In this case, the enemy of my enemy is still my enemy.” Sanders had a telling interview, and the Democrat establishment will use it as another reason to keep the man from their nomination.
