Think of it as payback for Donald Trump’s spearheading the birther theories back in 2011. Barack Obama has repeatedly taken potshots from the Oval Office at the Republican frontrunner, criticizing his rhetoric, and declaring the casino mogul unfit for the office. “I am getting questions constantly from foreign leaders about some of the wackier suggestions that are being made,” Obama jabbed. “They don’t expect half-baked notions coming out of the White House. We can’t afford that.” A few months ago, Obama was quiet about the election to name his successor. But with months until he departs from the White House for the last time, Obama surely is trying to ensure the next president will further his legacy.

And what does he have to lose? The most recent Associated Press-Gfk poll finds that 67% of Americans view Trump unfavorably. The more Obama attacks the reality TV star, the more his ratings will improve. Obama wasn’t this vocal during the 2014 mid-term elections, signaling that he’s less interested in a Democrat winning than someone who can ensure his name is noted in the history books.

“So here’s the question,” says Rush Limbaugh. “Obama knows that Republicans disapprove highly of his job performance. He knows this. So when Obama comes out and starts ripping into Trump as unqualified, dangerously incompetent, not prepared in any of this… Do you think maybe Obama is aware that he is solidifying support for Trump amongst Trump supporters? Do you think maybe Obama knows that what he’s doing is actually helping Trump, his criticism is actually helping Trump?” The answer is “yes.” Obama’s doing the same thing the Leftmedia is doing: Hoping to push the GOP toward the weakest nominee.
