Earlier this month, Virginia State Trooper Chad Dermyer died when he was targeted by cop-hater James Brown, who was killed during a later shootout with police. He is one of the 16 police officers to die in the line of duty this year, no doubt in part because of the political rhetoric that trivializes their deaths. Investor’s Business Daily reports: “These threats by Black Lives Matter have manifested in the shooting deaths of 16 officers through April 8 of this year vs. eight in the comparable period in 2015, which was already historically high, according to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, which maintains a database on police fatalities.”

At the end of 2014, Barack Obama was pontificating how “racist” cops were targeting young blacks because they were not properly trained. Meanwhile, two New York City Police Officers were ambushed and gunned down by a Baltimore gangster. Obama talks about how he wants to lead lecture on an intellectual discussion about policing in America. But those words from the commander in chief only foster a culture of disrespect. The people on the front lines of law enforcement are paying a high price for his words.
