Barack Obama’s next house is no humble abode. When Obama finally leaves the White House in a few months, he reportedly plans on living in a $5 million mansion two miles away from his current residence. See? He’s not going to be far away, which guarantees that he’ll still belong to the Washington elite. If any Democrats want to pick his brain — maybe to brainstorm on new ways to circumvent working with Republicans — he’s only a short drive away. The house sits in “clearly one of the best neighborhoods in the Washington Metropolitan area,” according to President of Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors Peg Mancuso.

Publication for the Washington elite, Politico, reports the Obamas will lease the 8,200-square-foot structure from the NFL’s executive vice president of communications, at least until Obama’s youngest daughter can finish high school. Ironically, the house is a short walk away from an Islamic center and less than a half-mile away from the former Embassy for the Islamic Republic of Iran. With a location like that, chances are small that Obama will retire quietly from public life.
