More than a third of the countries that share an agreement with the United States that allows citizens to travel for a time in the States visa free are not telling the government when they have identified a potential terrorist. That leaves our nation vulnerable. Terrorists don’t need to sneak across our borders; they can simply walk through customs and get their passport stamped.

According to the Government Accountability Office report more than a third of the 38 countries are not even sharing criminal history with the U.S., which makes vetting these individuals entering the U.S. much more difficult. Furthermore, Department of Homeland Security isn’t informing Congress about the security holes in a timely manner.

“What most Americans don’t realize is that just last year alone we issued about 10 million visas for people to come into the United States,” said Rep. Randy Forbes (R-VA). “That’s a pretty large number and we really don’t have the processes of completely vetting those individuals, nor do we have processes often times of keeping up with them once they get here. So in addition to just driving or walking across the border, or sneaking across the border, on the Southern border, we have 10 million that just come in because we stamped a visa and allowed them to come in.”

Here’s some food for thought: The San Bernardino jihadists entered this country using the program. And other Islamic State fighters who are living in places like Belgium could do the same thing.
