The Patriot Post® · NARAL Thinks Abortion Is Just Hilarious

Abortion is a sensitive topic, and for good reason. While some Americans have no problem with the procedure, the reality is that most women — yes, including those who have actually experienced an abortion — struggle with it. That is to say, abortion is no laughing matter for the majority of people on both sides of the political and cultural divide. In 2012, in a statement commemorating the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, even Barack Obama called it “a sensitive and often divisive issue.” Some organizations, though — like NARAL Pro-Choice America — will go to extreme and asinine measures to normalize a life-ending and life-altering decision that can be downright traumatizing.

In a new video, “Comedians in Cars Getting Abortions,” NARAL makes a mockery of pro-life advocates and the pregnancy crisis centers they run in a not-so-funny attempt to paint abortion as near-impossible to get for some women. Seriously. Just two weeks after the Supreme Court nullified sensible abortion regulations in Texas, NARAL is still complaining that an abortion is too difficult to obtain. Fact check: According to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, “In 2011, a total of 1,720 providers performed at least one abortion.” Moreover, The Daily Signal’s Sarah Torre reported in 2014, “The United States is one of only a handful of developed countries in which late-term abortions after 20 weeks — five months — are allowed.”

At the end of the video is a statement that reads, “It shouldn’t be this hard to get an abortion.” As commentator Guy Benson points out, “Here’s the thing: It isn’t. In fact, a large majority of Americans — including most women and young people — think it should be harder to get one.” In 2012, Obama himself said, “We must stay united in our determination to … reduce the need for abortion.” Yet NARAL wants abortion clinics on every street corner. Republicans today are accused of shifting further to the right. On the contrary, it’s Democrats who are leaning more and more to the left. Abortion is no laughing matter. Neither is the Left’s mockery of it.
