“Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump escalated his war with his own party’s leadership Tuesday by refusing to endorse House Speaker Paul D. Ryan or Sen. John McCain, two of the GOP’s highest-ranking elected officials, in their primary campaigns,” The Washington Post breathlessly reports. Asked if he would endorse Ryan, Trump echoed Ryan’s own statement about Trump: “I like Paul, but these are horrible times for our country. We need very strong leadership. We need very, very strong leadership. And I’m just not quite there yet. I’m not quite there yet.”

For what it’s worth VP nominee Mike Pence endorsed Ryan, saying, “I strongly support Paul Ryan, strongly endorse his re-election.” And he did it with Trump’s blessing.

Those are the facts. Here’s the perspective.

The Leftmedia has one goal: Electing Hillary Clinton. That means every time — and we do mean every time — there’s even the slightest hint of disagreement between Trump and Ryan, the two leaders of the Republican Party, the Leftmedia are going to trumpet it on the front page. And every time Trump says anything that doesn’t reflect Republican orthodoxy — a pretty regular occurrence — the Leftmedia are going to run to the nearest Republican, shove a microphone in his face, and ask him or her what they think about Trump’s comments. If you think you’ve seen this a lot in the last few months, just wait. The general election is officially in season, and this may be a daily event through November. And through at least 2021 if Trump wins.
