The Patriot Post® · After Dallas Massacre, Police Recruitment Soars

Be “part of the solution,” not “part of the problem” Dallas Police Chief David Brown said in the wake of the ambush that took the lives of five of Dallas’ finest. It’s easy to talk about problems and to call on government to do something, but what defines the true American spirit is the willingness of individual citizens to step up and meet the call. Dallas is seeing this spirit shine forth in a big way. Over the last two weeks the Dallas Police Department has received almost 500 applications, triple the normal amount.

Reports surfaced earlier this year that police recruitments were down across the country. One of the primary reasons for the low recruitment has been the negative protests against cops fomented by such groups as Black Lives Matter and the Leftmedia’s continuing narrative of racism being endemic in police departments across the country. The reduction in applicants has been especially pronounced amongst minorities and women.

In Dallas in particular, it’s heartening to see Americans from various walks of life and racial backgrounds stepping up to serve their communities. They have decided to be active in seeking change, not by standing and protesting, but by taking up the challenge to be part of the solution. We sincerely hope that Chief Brown’s call to the citizens of Dallas will be heard all across the nation — that more Americans will be motivated to take up the challenge and choose to be a part of the solution and not be content to simply protest and wait for the federal government to solve the problems.
