Trump Violates Safe Spaces

Exams canceled, fearful students, lawsuits — it’s all a sign of a reality check.

Donald Trump’s election victory was indeed stunning — so stunning, in fact, that some college students may have trouble completing their coursework due to the shock. One Yale economics professor responded with great compassion. “I am getting many heartfelt notes from students who are in shock over the election returns,” he wrote, and “fear, rightly or wrongly for their families” and are “requesting that the exam be postponed.” Yet because many students had actually, you know, prepared for the test, he didn’t want to just cancel it. So he made it optional, saying he’d calculate grades with or without it, depending on the student’s choice. Dry your tears, dear students. It’ll be okay.

Meanwhile, the Yale Daily News reports, “Gabriel Groz ‘19 told the News he worried about Trump’s policies towards many of his peers, particularly those who are Muslim, and called this year’s election 'the rise of a fascist.’” That same paper also reported, “Still, not all students were disappointed with Trump’s victory. A junior in Jonathan Edwards College, who requested to remain anonymous for fear of backlash, supported Trump in his presidential run and told the News that he was optimistic about the country’s future.”

As The Wall Street Journal’s James Taranto wryly observes, “So the guy who’s for Trump is afraid to be named publicly, but the guy who thinks fascism is dawning has no such hesitation.” Yes, that pretty much sums up the Left’s definition of “fascism” — anybody who disagrees with them. These poor college students ought to get a degree from the school of hard knocks. Reality is going to be cruel if they don’t snap out of it.

On a final note, a New York man has reportedly sued Donald Trump for “punitive and compensatory damages in the amount of $1,000,000,000 for severe emotional pain, and suffering and for the deliberate and willful, obstruction of Plaintiff’s constitutional rights.” Our own Mark Alexander joked, “If he’s suing for a billion, then I am most assuredly entitled to sue Hillary Clinton for $100 billion, and I am not donating a penny of it to the Clinton Foundation. I have already called my attorneys — seriously, I have!”
