The Patriot Post® · Sanctuary City Advocates Won't Go Quietly
President-elect Donald Trump has pledged to end sanctuary cities. As he should. The ludicrous policy that allows cities to shield felonious illegal immigrants from deportation puts Americans in danger. Case in point: Kathryn Steinle was murdered in San Francisco last year by a serial convict and deportee. Her death accentuates just how absurd it is to provide protection to those who entered the country illegally and then continue to exploit the system because they know they can.
Nevertheless, sanctuary city advocates like Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel remain undeterred in their resolve. “To be clear about what Chicago is, it always will be a sanctuary city,” Emanuel declared yesterday. “To all those who are, after Tuesday’s election, very nervous and filled with anxiety as we’ve spoken to, you are safe in Chicago, you are secure in Chicago and you are supported in Chicago.”
He’s not alone. According to the Chicago Tribune, “Emanuel’s public statements reaffirming Chicago’s sanctuary city status come as the mayors of New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Philadelphia, Minneapolis and other major cities also have done so since Trump’s election.”
In case they haven’t noticed, leftists strongholds are hotbeds for rampant crime. Chicago is ground zero in that regard. The city is closing in on 700 homicides year-to-date. Evidently, folks like Emanuel side with criminals. No wonder Chicago is such a violent city. But that’s the price a city pays for electing a guy who believes one should “never let a crisis go to waste.” Trump’s message of law and order resonates for that very reason.
