Missouri governor-elect Eric Greitens is a decorated ex-Navy SEAL who knows what it’s like to face life-threatening situations. Unfortunately, so does his wife, Sheena. Late yesterday she was robbed by a gun-wielding thug near St. Louis University.

The good news is that Sheena was unharmed, albeit unnerved, and a group of serial suspects has been apprehended. Responding to the news on Facebook, Mr. Greitens lauded our men and women in blue: “If tonight’s incident has done anything, it has only served to strengthen my — and our family’s — resolve. We are, now more than ever, committed to the law enforcement officials who were by Sheena’s side within minutes.” He added, “We are also thankful tonight: for God’s grace, for our brave men and women in law enforcement, for the safety of our family, and for the prayers of so many of you.”

Ed Morrissey says, “After the past two years of unrest in Ferguson and a confused and vacillating response from outgoing governor Jay Nixon, Greitens had already made support of law enforcement a key part of his agenda. This will only reinforce the former Navy SEAL’s resolve in that direction. Get ready to hear a lot more about ‘blue lives matter’ in Missouri.”

And finally, a bit of advice for thugs: Don’t mess with a Navy SEAL. More veterans are seeking office, and with them comes zero tolerance for those who dismiss the sacrifices our police men and women make. We’d also encourage Mrs. Greitens to consider a concealed carry permit.
