Today marks the 44th annual March for Life, as thousands of women and men, girls and boys, families and friends come together to collectively call for an end to the abominable practice of abortion and to give a voice to the most innocent and vulnerable among us — that of the unborn. There is truly no greater stain on our nation’s history than that of Roe v. Wade, and the legacy of death it has left in its wake.

Today’s march had an added level of history as Vice President Mike Pence spoke to the crowds, the first time a sitting vice president (or president) has attended the event. Pence stated, “Life is winning in America and today is a celebration in that progress. We’ve come to a historic moment in the cause of life and we must approach it with compassion for every American. Life is winning in America because of you.” And indeed, life is winning, as polling indicates that more Millennials than any prior generation have embraced the cause to end abortion.

The great irony is that last Saturday’s “women’s march” was billed as one for women’s rights, though it was awfully exclusive and would have offended and confounded the very founders of the original feminist movement. Women such as Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton were fiercely pro-life and referred to abortion as a “horrible crime of child-murder” for which they “desire[d] its suppression.” Suffragette Alice Paul held that abortion was “the ultimate exploitation of women.” These original feminists were pro-woman in every sense and at every stage of development. If they were still with us, they would have been marching today, not last Saturday. But you won’t hear that from the bullhorns or the Leftmedia megaphones.
