Democrats and the mainstream media are fuming after President Trump asked for the resignations of 46 U.S. attorneys. Some are calling it a scandal — an attempt by the Trump administration to shut down looming investigations. But it’s not true.

In 1993 Attorney General Janet Reno fired every Republican U.S. Attorney — 93 in a one-day sweep. President Obama did the same thing in 2009. He replaced nearly every U.S. Attorney appointed by President Bush. There was no breaking news coverage, no breathless mainstream media outrage. That’s because it’s perfectly normal behavior. Nothing nefarious, folks.

Investigations and prosecutions will go on, and the moment a U.S. attorney leaves a career prosecutor takes over to stand in the gap. So here’s the bottom line: President Trump had every right to ask for the resignations. As for all of the faux-outrage from the Fake News regurgitators, it’s a load of Grade-A fertilizer — a variety so foul you can’t even grow a crop of butter beans.
