Bill Who? Never Heard of Him

Apparently O’Reilly, whose highest-rated show elevated Fox News ratings for the last decade, is now persona non grata.

As a follow up to “Killing Bill O'Reilly,” Fox News used Bret Baier’s program last week to welcome prep-star Tucker Carlson’s transition into O'Reilly’s coveted time slot — notably without ever mentioning who was previously in that slot.

Apparently O'Reilly, whose highest-rated talk show was instrumental in elevating Fox News ratings for the last decade, is now persona non grata at Fox — just some phantom memory. That notwithstanding, O'Reilly, whose media presence will now be podcasts through his online website, did manage to graciously mention Fox News in his note about leaving the network.

Carlson, who characterized O'Reilly as a “thin-skinned blowhard,” is the co-founder and former editor-in-chief of a titillating gossip tabloid, “The Daily Caller.” In keeping with that line of infotainment, Carlson announced that the first guest of his new show would be Bruce er, uh, Caitlyn Jenner. According to Carlson, “Caitlyn Jenner seems like one of those people on whom [becoming the "transgender” poster child] has been thrust. All of a sudden ‘Caitlyn Jenner you speak for all people like you.’“ (Actually Bruce Jenner promoted himself in that role with his celebrated gender-confused chop-shop transformation — just another bizarre Kardashian clan episode.)

For the record, I watched Fox’s debut of "Tucker Carlson Tonight” right after the election last November to see how he would handle his new platform. Carlson lost me right out of the gate after he joked and laughed when comparing the tragic events of 9/11 to the Democrat Party’s presidential loss — not once, not twice, but three times. That should have resulted in the open and close of Carlson’s career with Fox News, but nobody else seemed to notice…
