Stephen Colbert is a dour leftist wrapped in the guise of a comedian. While his early forays into the world of comedy proved to be quite successful, there is little doubt that Colbert’s primary interest is political and social change, not comedic creativity. Colbert is one of a litany of activists who have essentially co-opted comedy as a means of promoting what can be most accurately described as leftist propaganda. Using comedy to belittle one’s opponents is not a new concept, but there seems to be a degree of arrogant hubris and self-righteous vindictiveness expressed by many leftist comedians not seen in time past.

While many have rightly argued that Donald Trump is partly to blame for lack of civility expressed within American politics today, he by no means is the primary cause nor instigator of it. If anything, Trump decided to play ball like a Democrat, which has earned him the ire of the mainstream media resulting in the MSM becoming the party of opposition to Trump. And Colbert happens to be a card carrying member.

Last weekend Trump, in an interview with John Dickerson of CBS’s “Face the Nation,” jokingly referred to the program as “Deface the Nation.” Colbert, who also happens to be an employee of CBS, took offense and proceeded to unleash the following crude, insult-riddled tirade against Trump in the opening monologue of his nightly show.

> “Mr. President, I love your presidency. I call it ‘Disgrace the Nation.’ You’re not the POTUS, you’re the ‘gloat-us.’ You’re the glutton with the button. You’re a regular ‘Gorge Washington.’ You’re the ‘presi-dunce’ but you’re turning into a real ‘prick-tator.’ Sir, you attract more skinheads than free Rogaine. You have more people marching against you than cancer. You talk like a sign-language gorilla that got hit in the head. In fact, the only thing your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin’s c—k holster.”

While many conservatives public figures disagreed with and disliked Barack Obama, even the brashest of them didn’t publicly unleash such an insulting and vulgar tirade against an American president. And yet those on the Left not only engage in this behavior, they justify it as standing up for the cause of social justice and speaking “truth” to power. The funny thing is that last November, Colbert lamented that 2016 was such a raucous election year, musing, “How did our politics get so poisonous? I think it’s because we overdosed, especially this year. We drank too much of the poison.”

Clearly, Colbert hasn’t been able to stop drinking the “poison” of partisan politics.
