So far since Donald Trump moved to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue on January 20th, Congress has used the Congressional Review Act to repeal 14 significant regulations. That’s quite the impressive record. Since its passage in 1996, the Congressional Review Act has only been used once to overturn an agency’s rules. The Code of Federal Regulations has been growing steadily since the 1930s and epitomizes the bloated bureaucracy of the federal government, as the overall size of the CFR is currently over 175,000 pages in length. Last year alone, Barack Obama’s administration added 95,894 pages in new regulations, and not surprisingly holds the record for most added. The good news is that Trump and the Republicans are aggressively seeking to drain the swamp.

Predictably, Democrats aren’t happy about it. In keeping with their entire Resistance™ theme, Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) introduced a bill on Tuesday that essentially repeals the Congressional Review Act. The bill has been co-sponsored by Senator Tom Udall (D-NM). Not only would the bill repeal the act, it would reinstate the 14 regulations which were recently repealed thanks to the majority Senate Republicans. Does anything so clearly show that the Democrats are the party of Big Government? Thankfully, this bill has about as much chance of passing as Hillary Clinton does of becoming president tomorrow.
