Billionaire leftist Tom Steyer, one of our nation’s archenemies of Liberty, recently increased his spending up to $20 million on his crusade to impeach President Donald Trump. The money will go to his Need to Impeach campaign and will be used to run ads and commercials calling for Trump’s removal. Steyer defended his anti-Trump efforts with typical leftist collectivist rhetoric, saying, “This really is the people’s effort.” He’s such a populist One-Percenter.

While Democrat leaders like House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and DNC Chairman Tom Perez have sought to distance themselves from impeachment talk, Steyer has only doubled down: “I’ve obviously heard that, but I think what we’re trying to do is to give a forum and a voice for the American people. We think what we’re doing is the morally right thing to do. It’s urgent and important and we think … voters overwhelmingly object to the president.”

In a recent interview on CNN, host Dana Bash pointedly asked Steyer to lay out the constitutional case for Trump’s impeachment. Steyer hemmed and hawed about the Russian investigation and the firing of James Comey, by which supposedly Trump violated the trust of the American people and therefore had “met that standard for impeachment.” To her credit, Bash didn’t let Steyer off the hook with his vacuous and vapid answer. She noted that several leading Democrats were concerned that all Steyer was doing was using the calls for impeachment as a political tool for his own aims. Steyer responded with the classic leftist rhetoric of his fighting for the people to have a voice. So last year’s election result wasn’t the people expressing their voice? Please. In other words, no he has no real grounds to call for Trump’s impeachment.

The truth is Steyer, whose net worth is estimated to be around $1.6 billion, may have future aspirations to run for office, although he has not publicly admitted so. It’s no secret that he is a hardcore environmental leftist, who last year spent $65 million in support of the Democrat Party and assorted environmental causes. This is all a political campaign, nothing more.
