The Patriot Post® · Mockingjay to the Rescue?

Actress Jennifer Lawrence seems to have confused her perception of real life with the dystopian fictional world of “Panem” from The Hunger Games. You see, Lawrence has announced that she’s taking a year off from acting in order to “fix” America. Her onscreen persona in that movie series, Katniss Everdeen, was also unwilling to sit idly by enjoying the wealth and fame she had won, and chose instead to enter the fight to end the corrupt regime of President Coriolanus Snow. Likewise, Lawrence has decided she too must act to save “democracy,” presumably from President Donald Trump. Maybe it’s because the name of the actor portraying Snow is Donald Sutherland… She further explained, “My political passion has almost turned into an obsession. I mean, I don’t think you ever do feel settled, [but] as soon as you feel settled with your home and your personal life, you’re looking at the world and going, ‘How in the hell do I fix this? What do we do?’”

In her announcement, Lawrence also stated, “I’m going to be working with this organization as a part of [anti-corruption organization] Represent.US … trying to get young people engaged politically on a local level.” She continued, “It doesn’t have anything to do with partisan stuff. It’s just anti-corruption and stuff trying to pass state by state laws that can help prevent corruption [and] fix our democracy.”

While Lawrence claims to expressly avoid engaging in the “partisan stuff,” one look at Represent.US’s desired political changes are anything but nonpartisan. Instead, its goals are a typical leftist laundry list — for example, eliminating the Electoral College, the ending of super PACs, automatic voter registration and federal funding for candidates campaigns in an attempt to “get money out of politics.” The irony here is that Represent.US is heavily funded by none other than leftist billionaire George Soros. Talk about pumping money into politics.

So, stay tuned to watch Katniss Jennifer take on corruption and “fix” the American republic all this year. And the following year? Well, who knows. But in all honestly the arrogance expressed by these Hollywood actors wanting to save and fix America is downright insulting. The last community Americans should look to solve any civic problems is the entertainment industry, as theirs is the realm of fantasy and fiction, not reality.
