Since Donald Trump’s election, the Leftmedia has ramped up its now-exponential violation of journalistic trust, and, hypocritically, blames Trump for his caustic “fake news” charges. However, only the most dullard media consumers don’t recognize the abject leftist bias that infests the MSM. Trump has simply but effectively exposed the extent and degree of that bias.

But rather than a serious introspective evaluation, the MSM has chosen to double down on its incessant violation of public trust, which now produces spectacles like the grotesque display at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner — an event Trump wisely avoided, opting instead to speak at a grassroots rally in Michigan.

Leftist “comedienne” Michelle Wolf was chosen as the “keynote comedy"act for the event and her monologue proved not only to be predictably biased, but far more vulgar and mean-spirited than past events. Some of Wolf’s controversial comments were aimed at White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, who was seated near the podium. Wolf "joked,” “We are graced with Sarah’s presence tonight. Every time Sarah steps up to the podium, I get excited. I’m not really sure what we’re going to get, you know? A press briefing, a bunch of lies or divided into softball teams. … I actually really like Sarah. I think she’s very resourceful. But she burns facts and then she uses that ash to create a perfect smoky eye. Like maybe she’s born with it. Maybe it’s lies.”

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Sanders’ father, took exception to the abusive “jokes” directed at his daughter. “The WHCD was supposed to celebrate the 1st Amendment,” he said. “Instead they celebrated bullying, vulgarity, and hate. They got all dressed up so they would look nicer when they had a hired gun savagely attack their guests. Do they really wonder why America has no respect for them? Sad!”

But the most grotesque of her “jokes” were about abortion. “[Mike Pence] thinks abortion is murder,” Wolf said, adding, “Don’t knock it ‘til you try it — and when you do try it, really knock it. You know, you’ve got to get that baby out of there.” She then addressed a few disapproving members of the audience, saying, “Yeah, sure, you can groan all you want. I know a lot of you are very anti-abortion. You know, unless it’s the one you got for your secret mistress.”

Her contempt for life is probably rivaled only by her self-contempt.

Trump’s former chief of staff, Reince Priebus, called it “an R/X rated spectacle” that made everyone in the room “uncomfortable” and witnessed that both “Trump lovers and even a large number of Trump haters were pretty miserable.” More than a few Leftmedia scribes agreed with Peter Baker of The New York Times, who commented, “Unfortunately, I don’t think we advanced the cause of journalism tonight.” And Meg Kinnard of the Associated Press noted, “If the #WHCD dinner did anything tonight, it made the chasm between journalists and those who don’t trust us, even wider. And those of us based in the red states who work hard every day to prove our objectivity will have to deal with it.”

Of course, some Leftmedia talkingheads defended Wolf’s attacks on Trump. Most notable was CNN’s Jim Acosta, whose only complaint was that the event “did not really address the nearly constant attacks on the press from the president.”

For her part, Wolf told NPR after the charade: “I wouldn’t change a single word. I’m very happy with what I said, and I’m glad I stuck to my guns.”

Trump hater Kathy Griffin, who was roundly criticized last year for posing with a likeness of Trump’s bloody severed head, “was greeted like a bona fide superstar” at the correspondents’ dinner, according to The Washington Post. Emboldened by Wolf’s disgraceful behavior, she came out swinging Monday, retracted her apology, and declared she is “no longer holding back” on Trump and his family.

But by Tuesday, the MSM was having second thoughts. The Washington Post suggested this year’s dinner “should be the last.”

MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell declared, “Apology is owed to [Sanders] and others grossly insulted by Michelle Wolf at White House Correspondents dinner.”

CNN’s Jeff Zeleny called Wolf’s performance “an embarrassment.”

Politico’s Kyle Cheney wrote that Wolf was “unnecessarily cruel.”

And Politico’s Tim Alberta wrote, “Every caricature thrust upon the national press – that we are culturally elitist, professionally incestuous, socioeconomically detached and ideologically biased – is confirmed by this train wreck of an event.”

In the end, Trump had the last laugh. He declared that the dinner “was a very big, boring bust,” an “embarrassment,” and “the filthy ‘comedian’ totally bombed.” In fact, he said, “FAKE NEWS is alive and well and beautifully represented on Saturday night!”
