How does ice cream become controversial? Well, sprinkle in some progressive politics and, voila, you get a batch of Ben & Jerry’s. The Vermont ice cream maker has long been known for its owners’ leftist political leanings, which is ironic given that the company has thrived on the principles of free-market capitalism. But who ever said lefties were consistent?

Ben & Jerry’s recently trotted out a new flavor aimed at tickling the taste buds of its favorite customers: Trump haters. “Today we launch Pecan Resist!” the company proudly announced. “This flavor supports groups creating a more just and equitable nation for us all, and who are fighting President Trump’s regressive agenda.” The company noted that its new flavor would help support organizations “working on the front lines of peaceful resistance,” including the Women’s March.

Interestingly, the three prominent leaders of the Women’s March all have ties to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, one of the world’s foremost purveyors of Jew hatred. Not only that, but Linda Sarsour, the most well-known of the Women’s March leaders, has herself frequently expressed anti-Semitic views.

“We’re comfortable with the idea that the people and the causes we partner with may have a point of view different from our own on some issues,” Ben & Jerry’s said in a statement. “They can be controversial, just as we can. Linda may not agree with everything we’ve done. But the work that she has done to promote women’s rights, as co-chair of the Women’s March, is undeniably important and we are proud to join her in that effort.”

This rank anti-Semitism doesn’t seem to bother Ben & Jerry’s, though. After all, Donald Trump, perhaps the most pro-Israel president in our nation’s history, must be resisted by any means necessary.
