Before the 2018 midterm elections, Hillary Clinton said that civility in politics would return when the Democrats were once again in power. Apparently, she meant winning both the House and the Senate, because the civility she promised is nowhere to be seen. In fact, the situation seems to get worse each passing week.
Saul Alinsky still lives in American politics today. If you are not familiar with Alinsky, then you are too young to remember the man who wrote the handbook for political activism. Alinsky was not a communist, but he partnered with them when it was expedient. His book, Rules for Radicals, was a handbook for people such as Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, both of whom were disciples of Alinsky. Hillary’s senior thesis at Wellesley University was on Alinsky’s theories. Her thesis was titled, “There is Only the Fight: An Analysis of the Alinsky Model.”
Alinsky said, “The issue is never the issue. The issue is always the revolution.” Sun Su in The Art of War said we had to know our enemy to defeat him (my paraphrase). Conservatives are losing the battle in promoting our values because we allow the Left to control the narrative. To paraphrase Alinsky’s tactics, you identify your enemy, isolate them, and destroy them. You do NOT negotiate, you destroy and vilify them. Let’s look at some recent events.
Recently, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar was asked to compare Presidents Obama and Trump. She said, “It is silly to equate the two; one is human the other is clearly not.” If Trump is not human, whatever action (or threat) directed at him is okay. Threats on his life are to be expected because he is not human. The Left has been using this strategy for years.
Hillary called Trump supporters “deplorables,” so anyone who supports him is not worthy of respect or protection. Think of how Christian florists, bakers, or photographers are treated. They are “evil” because they do not embrace the Left’s definition of identity politics, and they must be destroyed. That makes it okay to destroy their entire livelihood if it accomplishes leftist goals. They’re collateral damage to gaining power, the ultimate goal.
When Alinsky taught “community organizers” like Obama, he would ask students why they wanted to become community organizers. They would answer saying things like, “I want to help the poor,” or, “I want to make a difference in the community,” or other noble-sounding platitudes. Alinsky would slam his fists on his desk and scream, “No! You want power!” For radicals, the goal is always about obtaining power; even to the point of using violence.
Debate is no longer possible with the Left. If you disagree with them, you are immediately labeled with any horrible label they can think of, because once you have been labeled, there is no hope of redemption.
Democrat presidential candidates are running around the country each trying to be more radical than the others. They call President Trump racist or any other name they can to end the debate on any issue that comes up. Facts do not matter; only feelings!
Conservatives are losing the war because we are fighting the wrong battle. We need to wake up and realize there is a battle for the soul of our nation that we cannot afford to lose. What if the greatest nation on the face of the earth becomes another socialist failed state? We need to go on the offensive if we hope to survive this fight. Know your enemy!
