The Patriot Post® · To Tell the Truth
“To Tell the Truth” is a game show that started way back in the late 1950s and continues today. The theme of the show is to determine which of the contestants is actually who they say they are; who is telling the truth and who is lying. We could only wish it was that easy in real life to tell who is lying and who is telling the truth.
Unfortunately, truth is an outdated principle and people now claim it depends on what they determine truth to be. Reality is whatever you say it is for you. Facts no longer matter, only feelings. So, if you throw facts and reality out the window, you have fertile ground for the seeds of lawlessness and rebellion to bloom in the hearts and minds of impressionable people. “Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands far away; for truth has stumbled (fallen) in the streets, and righteousness cannot enter” (Isaiah 59:14).
We’ve come a long way in America from being truthful, honest people.
Adolf Hitler had his own newspaper and Joseph Stalin had Pravda. Both were propaganda tools. Joseph Goebbels headed the Nazi Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda. You would think that title would be like waving a giant red flag, but back then, propaganda meant something totally different. Only in recent history has the term come to have such a negative meaning. Synonyms for the word are: information, promotion, advertising, publicity, advocacy, spin, and more.
Today we have many “propaganda” ministries. Let me mention a few. The Washington Post, owned by leftist Jeff Bezos, qualifies. Since he took over, the paper developed a slogan — “Democracy Dies in Darkness” — yet its “journalists” do all they can to keep their propaganda in darkness. The New York Times boasts “All the News That’s Fit to Print” is its slogan. Both are losing readers left and right.
Today, truth is whatever the far Left says it is. The constant drum beat of President Donald Trump being a traitor, a threat to democracy, a liar, a scoundrel, and other words that I won’t use becomes white noise to so many. But there is a very serious result of all this propaganda.
Recent polling shows that 50% of those polled believe Trump colluded with the Russians to win the 2016 election. Forget that a nearly two-year, $25 million investigation by 40 FBI agents, 19 lawyers, 500 search warrants, millions of documents requested, 2,800 subpoenas, and 500 witnesses questioned showed no collusion with Russia by ANYONE in the Trump White House.
Back in July 2017, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, no Trump fan, indicted 12 Russian Intelligence Officers for their attempted interference in the 2016 election. He stated in his press conference that NO American citizens were involved and that not one vote was changed in this hacking attack. Yet half the country believes votes were changed by the hackers so Trump could become president.
The lack of truth telling is having a dramatic impact on our nation’s political future because of our media becoming propaganda tools for a far-left political party. It’s time we wake up and do our homework to seek truth in any political commentary we read or listen to. The costs are too high to ignore!
