Retail colossus Amazon recently removed books by Dr. Joseph Nicolosi from its platform. Apparently, as reported by LifeSiteNews, Nicolosi’s sin is having been recognized by the Rainbow Mafia as “the father of conversion therapy. In other words, for claiming that change is possible for those who experience unwanted same-sex attraction.”
Dr. Nicolosi, who died in 2017, helped found the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality. The aim of this organization was to help people struggling against unwanted same-sex attraction. Nicolosi was a highly respected psychologist whose work and books have received hundreds of endorsements over the years.
His son, Joseph Nicolosi Jr., explained, “My father was the driving force behind reparative therapy. He invented, refined, and used this innovation counseling method to help thousands of men overcome the effects of sexual abuse and other deep-seated childhood traumas. These men told my father that his scientifically sound practices helped reorient their sexuality away from obsessions with pornography, and helped them reduce their unwanted same-sex attractions.” He even noted that one man who purchased the now-banned book Reparative Therapy of Male Homosexuality commented that it “saved his marriage.”
The younger Nicolosi further explained, “Contrary to what these activists and their allies at Amazon claim, my father never advocated so-called conversion therapy. Conversion therapy is broad, ill-defined, has no ethics code, no governing body, and is typically practiced by unlicensed individuals. My father had nothing to do with these or any similar practices, and as a therapist myself, I wholeheartedly condemn such a concept. What my father did do was use his psychological training and his Judeo-Christian worldview to help men overcome traumas that they — and he — believed were leading them into a life that did not reflect the men they were truly designed by their creator to be.”
However, what may be the biggest irony with the whole “born this way” trope is that the very same Rainbow Mafia preaching this message also claims that individuals can be “born the wrong way.” That’s their argument made in defense of the concept of “gender fluidity” and “transgenderism.”
For the Left, it’s not about advocating greater freedom and tolerance of differences. It’s about attacking and silencing any perspective with which they disagree. It’s all about forcing their own cultural values and ideals down the throats of all Americans.
