On the eve of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s testimony before the House, the Democrats’ latest political stunt aimed at convincing the American public that President Donald Trump is guilty of obstruction of justice, important news comes out regarding the actual conspiracy surrounding the 2016 election. Sources familiar with Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s investigation into possible FBI misconduct pertaining to the use of FISA warrants and the surveillance of individuals within the Trump campaign are claiming that former FBI Director James Comey intentionally lied to Trump.
Shocking, we know.
As Paul Sperry writes for RealClearInvestigations, “Two U.S. officials briefed on the inspector general’s investigation of possible FBI misconduct said Comey was essentially ‘running a covert operation against’ the president, starting with a private ‘defensive briefing’ he gave Trump just weeks before his inauguration. They said Horowitz has examined high-level FBI text messages and other communications indicating Comey was actually conducting a ‘counterintelligence assessment’ of Trump during that January 2017 meeting in New York.”
Sperry further notes, “Sources tell RealClearInvestigations that Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz will soon file a report with evidence indicating that Comey was misleading the president. Even as he repeatedly assured Trump that he was not a target, the former director was secretly trying to build a conspiracy case against the president, while at times acting as an investigative agent.”
If Horowitz’s forthcoming report, expected to be out in early September, corroborates this news, then Comey will find himself in deep and hot water. Furthermore, it will seriously undercut any effort by the Democrats to keep afloat their vacuous “obstruction of justice” narrative against Trump. In short, it could further expose just how far the deep state went in its effort to prevent and then oust Trump from the presidency.
