Tweet. Tweet. Tweet. Pop goes the liberal media. As the president posts yet another 280 characters on his Twitter account, the Left continues to squirm, squeal, and even lament. Yes, CNN anchor Victor Blackwell came to a screeching halt as tears welled in his eyes as he was defending his hometown Baltimore, saying, “People are proud of their community.” I’m going to investigate how “proud” the people are in Baltimore. First, let’s see what the president had to say in his B'more tweet to Elijah Cummings:

As proven last week during a Congressional tour, the Border is clean, efficient & well run, just very crowded. Cumming[s’] District is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess. If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place

I’m still waiting to feel the offensive outrage. Oh, there isn’t any. The exact claims Trump made about Baltimore have been made by the mayor of Baltimore as well. When on a tour of the inner city of Baltimore in 2017, Mayor Catherine Pugh said of the rat and rodent infested mess:

What the hell? We should just tear this $#!@ down! Ooh, you can smell the rats! Oh my God, you can smell the dead animals!

In case you were wondering, there was no moral outrage from the Left about her comments. Another leftist socialist, Bernie Sanders, had a very disturbing comparison of Baltimore. He stated, “The fact of the matter is America is the wealthiest country in the history of the world, but anyone who took the walk we took around this neighborhood would not think you’re in a wealthy nation, you would think you were in a Third World country.” He received no media outcry for his remarks about Baltimore. There’s even a documentary called “Rat Film” highlighting Baltimore’s rat warfare and urban planning issues. Are Baltimore residents proud of the 17,000 abandoned buildings within the city limits? The city’s educational system is promoting underachievement.

  • In 2017, there were six Baltimore schools (five high schools and one middle school) in which no students (0%) were compliant with state requirements in math and English. In total, 13 high schools had zero proficiency in math.

  • Baltimore’s unemployment rate is the third-highest out of 36 major cities. The poverty rate is 22.1%. Median household income is $11,000 less than the U.S. average.

  • Baltimore was named “The most dangerous big city” due to its high volume of murder. There are twice as many shootings in Baltimore than Chicago and Detroit combined per capita. Murders have increased during the first half of 2019.

Does this sound like something to stick your chest out about? President Trump’s comments actually didn’t do justice to what Baltimore has succumbed to. His comments had nothing to do with race and everything to do with a state-of-emergency wake-up call for Baltimore. Save the fake outcry for another tweet by the president.
