Birmingham, Alabama, was called “the most segregated city in the country” by Dr. Martin Luther King in 1960s. Protests and marches in Birmingham were used to boycott businesses to put pressure on community leaders to desegregate public restrooms, restaurants, stores, and schools. However, today there is a new segregation taking place in Birmingham — voter segregation. Liberals have used “voter suppression” as a tool to bring voters’ rights into question, but this is a new concept.

According to New Era Baptist Church’s pastor, Michael Jordan (no, not that Michael Jordan), whites and blacks should vote according to their skin colors, not their political ideologies. Pastor Jordan is on the attack against President Donald Trump, calling him a Klu Klux Klansman. This pastor has gone as far as displaying a double-sided sign outside the church that reads on one side: “A black vote for Trump is mental illness.” On the other, “A white vote for Trump is pure racism.” Even the sign itself is segregated with black and white “opposing viewpoints” versus each other. Just as the sign is double-sided, this pastor sounds double-minded.

I probably do not have to tell you that Pastor Jordan is a Black American. I do have to let you know that he has been a pastor for almost 30 years. Imagine his pseudo sermons over the decades and the ears he has tickled with his damnable heresy. His message is, “Please do not vote for Donald Trump.” He told a local reporter that if a black voter “believes in equality, who believe in the redistribution of wealth, who believe in earned income equality” and votes for Trump, the voter is suffering from mental illness. Jordan calls President Trump a racist and a bigot and bashes his administration, too.

I am embarrassed to say this, but this is standard behavior in churches predominantly attended by persons of color. Church buildings were a pillar in society in the 50s and 60s, but much of what has been discussed from the pulpit is more social justice wrapped in Scripture, rather than the justice of Jesus Christ. Fast forward to New “Error” Baptist Church’s pastor, who is just saying publicly what so many black pastors say privately across America. Yes, it is an unfortunate truth.

Jordan preaches at a reporter when asked why he is creating such a controversy: “God motivates me to take a stand. We have normalized racism! Read the Bible and look in the White House. If they’re calling me a racist; look in the White House!” This is not the first time that Pastor Jordan has used the church’s signage to preach hatred. In 2018, Jordan erected a sign that read “Black folks need to stay out of white churches.” The sign sparked outrage and earned a rebuke from Birmingham’s black Democrat mayor, Randall Woodfin.

Post Trump Stress Disorder (PTSD) has been the leftist diagnosis since Hillary Clinton was defeated in 2016. The Left hasn’t gotten over it yet. They have not figured out that calling President Trump a racist only emboldens his base. Every four years the Left uses the same “Race Card” against every Republican candidate. Since I’ve been a registered voter and beyond: George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, John McCain, Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, and now Donald Trump have all been deemed “racists” by the Left.

A Democrat presidential candidate needs to get approximately 85–95 percent of the black vote to have a chance of winning. According to Roper Center data, in the last eight presidential elections the black vote was cast as follows:

  • Dukakis 89 percent, Bush 10 percent (Bush won)

  • Clinton 83 percent, Bush 10 percent (Clinton won)

  • Clinton 84 percent, Dole 12 percent (Clinton won)

  • Gore 90 percent, Bush 9 percent (Bush won)

  • Kerry 88 percent, Bush 11 percent (Bush won)

  • Obama 95 percent, McCain 4 percent (Obama won)

  • Obama 93 percent, Romney 6 percent (Obama won)

  • Clinton 89 percent, Trump 8 percent (Trump won)

The vast majority of African-American voters will not change party loyalty. Democrats have kept their support for decades with divisive oratory because it fuels the emotional racist fire. Without African-American voters, Democrats cannot win elections. Pastor Jordan knows this and is fanning the flames of racist rhetoric using a very oldie but goody Democrat play during a political cycle. Maybe he should realize that his great state of Alabama had the highest Republican percentage in voting for Trump out of the entire southern region at 62.1%. My state, Tennessee, was second at 60.7% Republican voter turnout. Arkansas came in at an even closer third with 60.6%.

President Trump’s administration has created an atmosphere for economic success across the board, across all demographics. African-American unemployment is at an all-time low. The same goes for Hispanic employment and youth employment. Criminal justice reform directly affects incarcerated African-Americans. Trump has reached out to minority voters more than past Republican candidates did. Trump asked what black voters “have to lose” by voting for him during a rally for the 2016 election. With the black vote turning toward him favorably, I guess the answer is absolutely nothing!
