Observations: “Once you see Trump as history’s greatest nightmare, every action taken in opposition to him and those allied with him is justified. This kind of thinking is how you get people trying to shoot up a baseball field full of Republican congressmen.” —Jim Geraghty

For the record: “Do you know that I get in trouble when I don’t say that [the president is racist]?” —former DNC chief Donna Brazile

Obstructionist on standby: “I won’t commit to anything full time until next year’s election because I need to be free to speak, so I’m in a little bit of a state of suspended animation. I can’t go lead a nonprofit or take a prominent position somewhere else, because I need to be able to speak.” —James Comey on his unemployed status

Now do Bill Clinton: “Someone should investigate [Bret Kavanaugh]. Because the fact that something has not been proven it doesn’t mean it didn’t occur, right?” —Sen. Kamala Harris

Let’s buy back the Constitution instead: “I do believe that we need to do buybacks and I’ll tell you why. First of all, let’s be clear about what assault weapons are. They have been designed to kill a lot of human beings quickly. They are weapons of war with no place on the streets of a civil society. I’ve seen assault weapons kill babies and police officers.” —Kamala Harris (She’s totally wrong.)

Non compos mentis: “We expect our fellow Americans to follow the law. If they do not, there would be a fine imposed to compel them to follow the law. We’ve seen this implemented successfully in Australia, where you’ve seen a near 50% reduction in gun violence deaths in that country.” —Beto O'Rourke

D'oh! “You get a tax break for a race horse. Why in God’s name couldn’t we provide an $8,000 tax credit for everybody who has childcare costs? It would put 720 million women back in the workforce.” —Joe Biden (There are about 320 million total people in the U.S.)

Non sequitur: “You can run the best campaign, you can have the best plans, you can get the nomination, you can win the popular vote. And you can lose the Electoral College and therefore the election for these four reasons. Number one, voter suppression.” —Hillary Clinton, who won the popular vote by three million, blaming voter suppression for her loss

Race bait: “[There is] a very determined minority — in this case, wealthy white men and wealthy white Christian men and Christian Americans who are of the fundamentalist variety — who are very clear that no matter what happens, if they have to pull the South Africa model to maintain power forever they will do it, and they’re not afraid of it, and they’re increasingly open about it.” —MSNBC’s Joy Reid

And last… “I am changing my pronouns to ‘we/us/our.’ You see, I — or rather we — identify not just as myself but as all selves. We identify as me, but also you and everyone else. You might protest that you are not me, to which we would agree. You are not me because there is no me. You are us, we are you, yours is ours. This isn’t difficult to understand.” —Matt Walsh
