Last week, I related some examples of the Left’s intolerance toward anyone who has an opposing viewpoint. Well, there are plenty of other examples.

Ellen DeGeneres made the mistake of being seen at a Dallas Cowboys football game sitting next to former President George W. Bush. The social-media universe exploded in outrage! How could someone as tolerant as Ellen be seen with such a “bigot” as President Bush? To her credit, Ellen responded to the hyperbole showing more tolerance than all of the real bigots with their faux outrage.

“Here’s the thing,” Ellen said. “I’m friends with George Bush. In fact, I’m friends with a lot of people who don’t share the same beliefs that I have. Just because I don’t agree with someone on everything doesn’t mean that I’m not going to be friends with them. When I say, ‘Be kind to one another,’ I don’t only mean the people that think the same way that you do. I mean be kind to everyone.” There’s a novel idea!

CNN recently had a town hall with Democrat presidential candidates. Sen. Elizabeth Warren was asked what she would do if she met an “old-fashioned” person who believed marriage was between one man and one woman (insert my name here!). With all of the tolerance she could manage, she replied that she assumed this was a man who said this. Apparently, in Warren’s universe there are no women who believe that. She said she would tell him, “Then just marry one woman!” Then, dripping with sarcasm, she quickly added, “Assuming you can find one.” I guess that meant what woman would want to marry a man who thought like that.

At the same town hall, light-weight candidate Beto O'Rourke said if he were to become president, he would remove the tax-exempt status of every church, ministry, school, or nonprofit that opposed same-sex marriage. Throwing out thousands of years of human history and experience, he will say whatever he NEEDS to say to get elected. “Hell yes, I’m going to take away your guns!” he thundered at another debate. For the life of me, I don’t understand why he is polling close to the bottom of the polls among the Democrat candidates for president. I expect him to be even more bizarre going forward to get noticed.

Speaking of “tolerance,” we could talk about all the conservatives who have been threatened in public places simply because they hold different political views than the tolerant Left. There are conservatives who had to leave a movie theater or a restaurant because of threats to their safety. Or how about a conservative news commentator who had a mob show up at his home late at night threatening his wife and children? These are just a couple of examples.

This intolerance has to stop before someone is killed. Politicians and media personalities who stir up this type of hate need to be held accountable. We are a nation of laws that have been enacted to protect everyone, not just those holding opinions with which we might agree. If we do not have justice for all, we don’t have justice at all!

Something to think about?
