“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” —Romans 12:2

Our society has had a nonstop conversation about “acceptance,” so why is it can’t we accept our men as God made them to be?

I’m the father of four future men. Each has his own unique personality, attitudes, and purpose in life. I love them so much it hurts. So the notion that I should try to change them is inconceivable. It would be to defy God’s perfection.

Feminists, on the other hand, seek to “snuff out” any signs of masculinity they see. Without having masculine fathers in the home to serve as a compass, feminist mothers attempt to reprogram our boys to never know what a man is. It’s as if they regret their sons were not born daughters, therefore the child must be “fixed.”

But the assault on masculinity doesn’t stop at this type of “parenting.” Growing more prevalent in media, gender-fluid, feminist and pro-LGBTQ messaging is being planted wherever the far left sees fit. This seed, planted long ago, has taken root and successfully sprouted among black society.

Though a Millennial, I’ve been alive long enough to see the decline in black masculinity. Popular culture tells all. For example, television sitcoms used to air with strong black men at the helm of the family — each echoing the reality for many African-Americans. Shows like Fresh Prince, Family Matters, and The Cosby Show brought masculinity home for so many. Black families — with both father and mother — could be seen in commercials and magazines. A black male elder once said grace at the dinner table. Once a reality, these memories are close to becoming lost in the sands of time.

Today, one R&B singer is pissed because her son did not like having his nails polished, citing a bigoted society because God wouldn’t let her have her way.

Today, a black man wearing a tuxedo dress “steals the show” at the Oscars.

Today, rap music continues to promote “HE motional” men who are angry, sex-crazed and unstable, while propping up promiscuous women.

Today, strong black women “run the world” in movies and music, pop culture and parenting, all with no man in sight; perhaps because they aren’t needed anymore.

And if you don’t accept any of the above, you’re toxic, misguided and prejudiced, to be subjected to the wrath of angry women everywhere.

Can we be surprised that masculine black men are “disappearing”?

American society is at risk of losing the black man, the core of the black family. To dismantle a demographic would be to remove the very thing holding it together, and that is masculinity.

Masculinity and the qualities it brings exists to equalize the emotional nature of feminine ways. Our connection to God exists not only in our hearts, but in our minds. To deny ourselves of rationalization and logical thought — a masculine trait — would be to succumb to emotion and be led down a long, winding path of ups and downs, with no direction or destination in sight.

The remedy is to recognize that masculinity is a roadmap to our society’s advancement. Without it, we wander around in the dark and eventually end up nowhere.

If this “anti-male” social experiment push any further in the black communities, they’ll be no more Uncle Phils, Carl Winslows, or Cliff Huxtables to teach us the life lessons we so desperately need. Prosperity for black Americans would spiral out into oblivion, beyond our reach.
