When the only way one defines “diversity” is through the narrow lens of differing skin pigments, one eliminates any real significance to the term. Thus, as the field of Democrat presidential candidates narrows, the party is suddenly faced with a problem of its own making: None of the remaining top polling Democrat presidential candidates fit the Left’s “diversity” definition. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that the party’s increasingly hard-left base, indoctrinated in the odious ideology of “white privilege,” classifies all people as either victim or oppressor based almost entirely upon their “privilege” status — or, to put it bluntly, their race. Ironically, that is in fact the true definition of racism.

So, looking ahead to the upcoming fifth Democrat debate on Dec. 19, it’s likely that all candidates on stage will be white. “We’re spiraling towards a debate stage that could have 6 people with no diversity whatsoever,” complains Cory Booker — who likely won’t make the next debate. This has Leftmedia pundits wringing their hands in concern, questioning how the party that so loudly champions its “diversity” could end up with only white people on the dais.

Following Kamala Harris’s exit, The Washington Post’s headline fretted, “Democrats were excited about their initial diverse field. Now it’s notably whiter.” The Post quotes former South Carolina state rep. Bakari Sellers, who had endorsed Harris, observing the irony: “[Democrats] have more billionaires onstage than black people. The Republican top six candidates at this time in 2016 was more diverse than our top six candidates.”

“It’s not representative of the party,” frontrunner Joe Biden admits, “But you can’t dictate who is going to be the nominee, who’s going to be able to garner votes, who’s going to be able to stay in the race.”

The Democrats have caught themselves in a trap of their own making. If they actually properly applied the term diversity to politics, in which ideas and agendas are of greater significance than the color of the candidate proposing the ideas, then they would have no need to write stories lamenting their candidates’ racial makeup. But, honestly, Democrats have never been a party in which racism in one form or another doesn’t play a significant roll.
